Keep Your Silver Sparkling

Sterling silver oxidises when exposed to various elements, so it is natural for it to develop some tarnishing over time. However, with a little TLC, you can keep your silver jewellery looking bright and shiny.

You can prevent tarnishing by...

...avoiding exposure to chemicals, liquids and creams, such as perfumes and sun cream

...removing your jewellery before showering or swimming

...storing it separately from other pieces of jewellery when you aren't wearing it.

If your jewellery is already a little tarnished, you can...

...gently clean it with a few drops of mild dish soap and warm water

...use a soft bristled toothbrush to get into the nooks and crannies if needed

...rinse and pat dry

...finally, buff your freshly washed jewellery with the little blue polishing cloth included with every order.

What about Gemstones?

Special care must be taken with all gemstones; they all have different properties and different sensitivities, but some rules apply for all. You should follow the same tarnishing prevention advice noted above, but also...

...do not place them in an ultrasonic or steam cleaner

...do not use chemical cleaning solutions, or treated cloths.

Rose quartz, Snowflake Obsidian, Dalmatian Jasper, Amethyst, Blue Sandstone, Yooperlite and Moss Agate can all be easily cleaned with a warm, soapy water mix or a clean cloth.

Resin Jewellery Care Advice

UV Resin is pretty hard wearing, however to keep your jewellery in good condition, you should...

...avoid sleeping in your jewellery, or wearing it for activities where bumps and scrapes are a risk

...remove it before showering, swimming or doing the washing up etc. Resin is water resistant, but not water proof

...store your jewellery away from direct sunlight, as this can cause resin to discolour and/or soften

...avoid exposure to cigarette smoke, as this can cause discolouration

...avoid exposure to chemicals, liquids and creams, such as perfumes and sun cream. Solvents will cause the Resin to discolour, chip or break down completely.
